In the second class on the morning of 1st November, teacher Wang Qihai with the Chemistry Group of Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department of the west campus held a demonstration lesson in Class 9, Grade 9. Attendees included Anqing Foreign Language School School’s Principal Xu Xuchang, Headmaster Wen Zhixin from Yuexi Paradise Junior High School, Schoolmaster Jia Chengzhi from Yuexi Huangwei Central School, Junior High Director Zhang Li with Anqing Foreign Lanuage School’s west campus in addition to all the chemistry teachers. Afterwards, the class evaluation session was initiated.
First of all, teacher Wang Qihai’s lesson was centered on ‘Atomic Structure’, which was the second class in Unit 3 of the 9th grade chemistry. This open class adopted the multimedia instruction as well as various kinds of teaching methods and activity forms to provide a brilliant public class for students.
Second of all, teacher Wang Qihai meticulously prepared his lesson beforehand. Therefore, during the class teaching, he showcased clear thinking in a layer-layer progressive way. Also, his explanations were meticulous and thorough, which could not only make hard materials simple, properly handle the important and difficult points in teaching, but also realize instructional objectives easily. What’s more, this open class was full of passion. On the one hand, it fully aroused students’ enthusiasm. On the other hand, the teacher-student interaction was frequent, displaying tacit cooperation. Thus, the classroom atmosphere was active, which left a deep impression on the teachers present.
Third of all, during the class evaluation session, this demonstration lesson won unanimous approval from Principal Xu Xuchang, Headmasters Wen Zhixin and Jia Chengzhi from Yuexi. They all highly affirmed this open class. Meanwhile, they put forward some existing problems. Furthermore, all teachers discussed and analyzed the causes of the problems in detail to solve these issues.
To conclude, this teaching and research activity provided a platform for teachers’ own development and strengthened their teaching communication. The teaching and research atmosphere can not only boost our classroom teaching competence and skills, but also enhance teaching quality, which shall facilitate the improvement of Anqing Foreign Language School’s educational and teaching quality.
